9 DAYS UGANDA RWANDA SAFARI UGA TAEL UGRW 9

This safari starts in Uganda and ends in Rwanda

Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Meet and greet at 07:00hrs at respective accommodation inKampalaorEntebbe. Begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle. Visit the Rhino Sanctuary en-route toMasindiTown. Arrive atMurchisonFallsNational Parkin time for lunch. After lunch proceed for a forest walk in theBudongo Forestat Kaniyo Pabidi. Primates resident in this forest include L’hoestes, Red Colobus, Blue, Red-tailed monkeys and Grey-cheeked Mangabeys. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only about primates, but also on all the forest flora and fauna and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for bird watching and for seeing primates at close quarters. Proceed to accommodation of choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park

On the early morning game drive via the Nyamusika plateau, you may see elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, hartebeest and many more species. After lunch, proceed for a boat trip on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream to the base of theMurchisonFalls. En-route you will see hippos, crocodiles, water buck and a wide variety of birds like the unusual shoebill stork. From the boat you will be able to take pictures of the photogenic and majesticMurchisonFalls. Return to accommodation of choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast take a boat ride to the Victoria Nile Delta. After lunch proceed for another game drive. Return to accommodation of choice for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kampala

After breakfast you proceed to the top of the falls where you can see theNile’s beauty perfected!! Marvel at the Nile compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 6-metre gorge dropping 40 metres with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful rainbow, a plume of spray and the best thing that happened to the Nile…”the Murchison Falls”. After a picnic lunch return toKampalaarriving in the evening.

Day 5:  Lake Bunyonyi

Our guide/driver picks you at 8:00 am from your hotel in Kampala. Drive to Mbarara via Masaka. Make a stop over at Equator crossing for photography. Proceed and stop over for Lunch in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural village (Ankole Museum) or Agip Motel. After lunch, drive through the breathtaking beauty and soothing environment of western Uganda to Kabale in Kigezi region commonly referred to as “The Switzerland of Africa”. Proceed to Lake Bunyonyi enjoying the stunning view of the beautiful  Muhabura Volcanic Ranges. For bird lovers, Bunyonyi is home to several bird species like the African Harrier Hawk, Yellow-backed and spectacled weavers, Levillant cuckoo and lots more birds.

Day 6:  Transfer to Rwanda

In the morning, you will take a boat ride and visit some of the 29 historical islands. After lunch, transfer toKigalivia Katuna.  The drive takes you through spectacular countryside of rolling hills with terraced gardens interspersed with woodlots. ArriveKigaliin the evening.

Overnight at Hotel Des Mille Collines

Day 7: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, drive to Kinigi via Ruhengeri. The road to Ruhengeri is sealed offering stunning scenery of the hills and valleys of this green and lush country, taking a little less than two hours. From Ruhengeri a 20 minute drive to Kinigi at the base ofSabinyoMountain, with excellent views of the rest of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Proceed to Park Headquarters and meet with excellent local guides and trackers who will give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest where the gorillas were seen the night before and track from that point. The trekking can take from 1 to 6 hours and climb to altitudes in excess of 7,500 feet. The terrain is rough and at times muddy. Although the hike is physically demanding the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. Picnic lunches are provided and it is important to take plenty of water. Cameras and plenty of fast speed film are recommended. It can rain at a few minutes notice; hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film.

Depending on the gorilla group you have tracked, you may still have enough time to take a nature walk in the National Park, visit the golden monkeys, or visit Dian Fossey’s Grave.  It is also possible to visit the Twin Lakes Ruhondo and  Burera .

Day 8: Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, transfer toNyungweForestnational Park. This is one ofEast Africa’s largest forests, with 13 monkey species, including chimpanzees. Make a walk through the forest in search of chimpanzees, monkeys and birds, or do the waterfalls trail.

Overnight at Hotel Des Mille Collines or  Gisaruka Lodge

Day 9: Transfer from Nyungwe Forest N.P to Kigali

 Transfer from Nyungwe Forest National Park to Kigali Air Port for your outbound Flight.
