Itinerary

Day 1Kampala-Murchison Falls

You will be picked from your hotel by driver/guide at 8.00 a.m. Begin the panoramic drive North-West through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. After lunch break in Masindi, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit the Top of the Falls from where you can see the Nile squeezing through a 7 meter canyon and dropping 45 meters with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful rainbow and a plume of spray. Enjoy the sunset as you drive to Paraa Safari Lodge/ Nile Safari Lodge (High end) or Red Chili Camp (Budget) for overnight and dinner.

Day 2Murchison Falls

Begin the day with a cup of African Coffee ready for an early morning game drive. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, take a boat trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls and while on this cruise you will see crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes and a wide variety of water birds including the Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.
Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge/ Nile Safari Lodge (High end) or Red Chili camp (Budget).

Day 3Murchison Falls-Kibale Forest National Park

Drive with packed lunch to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon.
Dinner and overnight at Kyaninga Lodge/Ndali Safari Lodge/ Primate Lodge (High end), Chimpanzee Guest House (Mid range) or Chimps Nest (Budget).

Day 4Chimpanzee Tracking Kibale Forest National Park-Bwindi

After early breakfast, report to briefing centre with packed lunch and start the day searching for chimpanzee and other primates including red Colobus, blue, red tailed and grey cheeked mangabey monkeys. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates, but also on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life and seeing primates at close quarters. After tracking, proceed to Bwindi via Queen Elizabeth National Park and here you may spot many wildlife including Elephants, Buffaloes, among others.

Day 5Gorilla Trekking Bwindi

Begin the day with breakfast ready for tracking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you a rain jacket, drinking water, snacks or packed lunch, jungle boots etc. The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours depending on the group you booked, but it is well worth the effort. Depending on the time you return from tracking, you can spend the afternoon on a community walk around the local communities living around the park, or a nature walk in the forest.
